What is Xeomin®?
Much like Botox®, Xeomin® is made from a substance known as botulin toxin. Xeomin® is injected into your muscles to reduce the visibility of moderate to severe frown lines (glabella lines/worry lines) just between the eyebrows. When this unique formulation is injected just under the skin, it will soften frown lines, relax forehead wrinkles and reduce the visibility of crow’s feet. Your untreated facial muscles will continue to contract in a normal fashion, which means that your everyday facial expressions will not be affected.
What are the Benefits of Xeomin®?
Xeomin® can be used to treat a wide variety of cosmetic issues, but most patients begin researching this injectable when they notice visible frown lines along their forehead. Xeomin® actually blocks the impulses that run through the nerves to the muscles so that they cannot contract. In addition to reducing the visibility of frown lines, Xeomin® can also be used to treat crow’s feet (fine lines on the outside of the eyes) and wrinkles higher up on the forehead.
Who is a Candidate for Xeomin®?
Xeomin® is generally used to treat dynamic wrinkles along the upper half of your face. Anyone who is no longer happy with his or her appearance due to frown lines will make an excellent candidate for this treatment. Xeomin® produces faster results and typically costs less than Botox®. When compared to Botox®, one of the biggest benefits of Xeomin® is the fact that it contains absolutely no additives.
What is the Procedure for Xeomin®?
Xeomin® is a safe, minimally invasive procedure approved by the FDA for smoothing out wrinkles and lines. A fine-gauge needle is used to inject Xeomin® directly into your facial muscles. The area to be treated will be cleaned and the injection sites marked. In some cases, a topical anesthetic is applied to numb the skin and prevent any discomfort. The Xeomin® procedure is similar to other injectable cosmetic procedures, in that with a topical numbing solution, you hardly feel anything during the 30-minute procedure, and the needle is used to administer the Xeomin® solution into the problem areas of your face. Immediately following the injections, patients can return to all of their regular daily activities.
